Creators for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone have shared the full slate of upcoming content for both titles as part of the Season 4 mid-season update. The update is scheduled to go live on Thursday, 25th June, on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and it will be available to every player at no additional cost.
Included in this drop are a variety of maps across multiplayer and Zombies, returning playlists, a new weapon, new attachments, a bright summer makeover for a battle royale map, upgrades to Endgame, and more.
That said, the biggest headline is the arrival of a new operator: actor Nicolas Cage. This addition doesn’t draw from any particular character from the actor’s career—instead, he’s simply portraying himself. Cue Nicolas Cage finger-guns.
Cage makes his debut alongside a new event pass. It’s a short, limited-time battle pass that lays out a set of challenges, each rewarding players with a mix of cosmetic and gameplay benefits. The pass includes both free and paid tracks, and Mr. Cage is available only in the premium version. There’s also a red leather jacket skin for him, though, sadly, it isn’t shown in the trailer. All of this falls under the Summer of Action campaign, which also includes its own daily login event.
After the campaign wraps up, the open-world mode Endgame in Black Ops 7 will stay playable for free until the end of Season 5. A fuller free trial of the entire game is also set to begin soon. While Activision hasn’t provided an exact start date, it’s anticipated to launch with the update—or not long after—bringing access to both multiplayer and Zombies.
This isn’t, in fact, the first time Nicolas Cage has shown up in a video game. Back in 2023, the actor appeared as a playable survivor in the asymmetric multiplayer survival horror title Dead by Daylight, where he again plays himself—because, really, who needs character development when your reputation already outshines the need for it?
This could very well be the last time we see a whimsical celebrity-style skin like this in the core Call of Duty lineup for a while. With Modern Warfare 4 officially announced, Activision and studio Infinity Ward have stressed that post-launch content won’t include the cartoonish or celebrity crossover skins that have become common in the series in recent years—many players have also voiced criticism about them. “No Lady Gaga. No Omni-Man. No Teletubbies. No SpongeBob. Keep the receipts,” the developer said at the time. Cosmetics will “need to feel authentic to what Modern Warfare represents.”
Modern Warfare 4 is set to release on 23rd October for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2. The Nicolas Cage skin will not carry over.
