Pokopia has become known for letting players build right alongside Pokémon, which has led to some delightful designs—such as enclosures made specifically for Mr. Mime. For fans, there’s more to look forward to, too: following the Nintendo Direct on June 9th, 2026, the game’s roadmap now includes a free underwater-themed update and an additional paid DLC.
In this post, I’ll break down everything I’ve found so far about Pokopia’s underwater update and paid DLC, including what’s new and exactly when you can expect each release.
Pokémon Pokopia DLC: what’s included and what to anticipate
Pokopia is set to roll out its free underwater update (Version 2.0) in August 2026, lining up with the launch of the game’s first paid DLC. First, let’s focus on the paid content.
Preorders for the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass DLC are already open in the Nintendo eShop, and the expansion is being released in three stages, as described below:
- Part 1: Bubbly Basin – Expected August 2026. This initial installment will reveal an underwater village where players can meet Pokémon that live in the ocean. I’m especially interested to see who shows up.
- Part 2 – planned for late 2026. This stage will add fresh crafting recipes and additional features.
- Part 3 – expected to arrive in 2027. This will bring another new area for players to explore.
If you place a preorder, you’ll also receive the following items right away:
- Recipe for animated Ditto print blocks and wallpaper.
- Email code for 30 Rare Pokémetal Ingots.
Pokémon Pokopia 2.0 update: what’s included and what to anticipate
On the other hand, the complimentary update for Pokopia will add Dive Transformation. With this option, players can stay submerged underwater for as long as they like, which makes it possible to build all kinds of underwater homes for their Pokémon.
To access this feature once it launches, players will need to complete the Raise the Environment Level! Important Request in Bleak Beach and ensure both the Jump Ability and Surf Transformations are enabled.
