Little Nightmares 3 – The Backstage, the DLC expansion unveiled during last week’s Summer Game Fest, has now gone live.
As the first slice of extra content for Supermassive Games’ reimagining of Tarsier Studios’ deeply unsettling world, The Backstage is available today on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and also on last-generation consoles.
In the new story, players will meet Low encountering Dime, a fresh young character outfitted with a torch hat—“a very useful instrument for navigating what lies beyond the curtains of The Carnevale”. Together, the two youngsters must “confront new dangers and utilize their light to rescue Alone from the clutches of a new Resident: The Puppeteer”. It’s a fit that perfectly matches the bleakly delightful tone of this kind of macabre game.
Little Nightmares 3 – The Backstage is available to anyone who owns the Secrets of the Spiral Expansion Pass, or it can be purchased separately for £6.49 on consoles and £6.99 on Steam.
Matt from Eurogamer gave Little Nightmares 3 a restrained rating of three out of five stars, saying: “Supermassive’s approach to play it safe results in several familiar frustrations, but the striking artistry – along with a mid-game rise – makes for a disturbingly captivating adventure nonetheless.”
If you happened to miss it, Little Nightmares 2’s Enhanced Edition is finally available on Nintendo Switch 2. Tarsier Studios’ eerie platform horror, Little Nightmares 2, released the Enhanced Edition for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC in 2021, but this is the first chance to experience the second game on Nintendo’s newest Switch system.
Even though the upgraded version was provided free of charge to owners of the original, non-enhanced releases on earlier platforms, Little Nightmares 2: Enhanced Edition is the only option sold for Nintendo Switch 2—so its price stands at £24.99.
