Forza Horizon 6 players advised to apply new patch to avoid losing save data and progress

Playground Games is looking into a situation in Forza Horizon 6 where “game save progress may be misplaced or wiped.”

After the support team identified the concern on the website, they asked affected players to “submit a ticket on the website right away.” The goal is to help the team try to bring back your save profile by rolling progress “back to an earlier save”.

“We strongly advise that you submit your ticket on the very day the issue shows up, to improve the chances of recovery,” the team added. “Meanwhile, don’t start fresh play sessions or generate new saves until Forza Support has had a chance to review your situation.”

Xbox owners are also asked to turn off Quick Resume, confirm you’re online when you “quit the game,” give your save a moment to sync before switching off your device, and avoid force quitting while you’re in save screens. On top of that, players shouldn’t power down their devices during gameplay. If you get an “out of space” notice after a game crash, you should review your storage and reboot your console.

Due to the problem, Xbox has now issued a patch for PC and Steam, recommending that you play only after version 37.114.10001.0 or later is installed. Xbox players also received a system update during the weekend.

“Because only some players will see the update arrive automatically later today, we strongly recommend following the instructions in this Xbox Support article to manually download the update to your console as soon as possible,” the team stated.

Still, some players report continued save data loss even after installing the new patch.

“This happened to me too with 220 hours…,” shared one player. “I don’t think there’s much you can do aside from contacting support and waiting… though I’ve been waiting 4 days with no response. I just started playing on a new account since they say not to make a new save on the affected account.”

As we noted earlier, Forza Horizon 6 is a great experience, but there’s an ongoing “drivatar” AI racer that’s giving plenty of drivers a hard time. The racer—known as bowieknife99—has caused enough chaos to earn a near-mythic reputation. That story has now picked up major viral traction.
