Battlefield 6’s next update is bringing back a classic mechanic… from Call of Duty: Ghosts

Much like the earlier Battlefield 6 seasons, Season 3 is being divided into three separate stages. The second stage kicked off just last week, but it arrived alongside a handful of notable bugs and hurdles. The following stage is scheduled to go live on 30th June.

This final installment, called High-Value Target, will debut together with a major patch, as was expected. As part of that update, new content will be introduced through the Wet Work event, which starts with this release.

Wet Work is described by the developers as a “contract-driven experience.” It’s available in both the standard Battlefield 6 multiplayer modes and the free-to-play Redsec section.

According to the blog post, contracts drop from opponents you eliminate. Anyone can pick them up, and doing so sets an in-match objective for players to pursue. Tasks range from taking out enemies and looting chests in Redsec BR to capturing objectives, or simply staying alive for a set period.

If you’ve spent time with plenty of multiplayer shooters, this idea will likely sound familiar. It closely mirrors the Field Order system from the often criticized Call of Duty: Ghosts. Just like Contracts, Field Orders—marked with a briefcase icon—would drop from players you take out. Once collected, they would set off a short challenge in the middle of the match, similar to what Battlefield Studios is teasing here.

Finishing a Field Order would grant a Care Package that only the player who completed it could open. Care Packages, as expected, include one random Killstreak. That said, it’s still unclear what rewards Battlefield 6 players will receive for completing the Contract challenges. More information about Wet Work and its Contracts structure should become clearer as the launch date gets closer.

Looking at events more broadly, the upcoming update will also refresh the event menu. Battlefield Studios says this change will make it easier to follow event challenges and their rewards by grouping everything together in a single place. This update is also valuable because it will highlight event-only modes.

In addition, the same update will adjust both weapon handling and vehicles. On the weapons side, Battlefield Studios is focusing on improving recoil, gun control, bullet spread, and limb damage modifiers. They’re also revisiting bullet velocity and drag.

For vehicles, another balancing pass is on the way. Thermal Smoke will no longer be able to block C4, and RPG damage against tanks and helicopters will be increased. Even more importantly, the automated AA at team spawn will stop shielding land vehicles. After each counter-attack attempt, it will also switch into a 20-second cooldown instead of continuing to target without interruption.

The developer further confirmed that a “Mark All Seen” button will be added to reduce how often “New” orange markers appear across different screens. Players will soon be able to remove all markers in Loadouts, Battle Pass, Store, Profile, Challenges, and the main Play tab.
