Iron Ingots in Witchspire are crucial for making new weapons and improving your Hearth. As you progress, this also unlocks more crafting options that will keep your survival efforts moving forward. To help you avoid wasting time hunting down Iron Ore, I’ve put together how to get Iron Ingots in Witchspire, along with practical advice on where to find Iron Ore.
How to obtain Iron Ingots in Witchspire
To get Iron Ingots in Witchspire, you’ll need to mine Iron Ore with the Witch’s Pickaxe (or a better tool), then melt the ore into Iron Ingots at a Furnace.
If you’ve already collected Copper Ore and smelted Copper Ingots, you should have the Witch’s Pickaxe and a Furnace ready at your base. If not, you’ll first have to unlock both items in the Luminaries Skill Tree. After that, craft the Witch’s Pickaxe at your Workbench and build the Furnace in your base through the Building menu.
Once you’ve got that covered, the next step is to track down Iron Ore.
Iron Ore Locations in Witchspire
The earliest spot where I found a steady supply of Iron Ore is near the Witchspire, an area you’re encouraged to check out pretty early in the story. This is the sky island where you’ll need to enter any special keys you discover, and it’s difficult to miss. I’ve marked the exact position on the map below.
The second place to look for a large amount of Iron Ore (and Copper as well) is inside the Shard Caverns in the Timberline Basin region. If you haven’t been there yet, the main quests will soon guide you to it.
When you reach Timberline Basin for the first time, you’ll arrive at an Al’uunian Tower with a portal. Go through that portal and stick to the right-hand path, and you’ll reach a cavern you can jump into shortly after (shown below). That location is Shard Caverns. Inside, you’ll come across plenty of Shardlings (plus lots of loot), but most importantly, there’s plenty of Iron Ore to mine.
Once you find Iron Ore, equip your Witch’s Pickaxe and break it to collect the materials. Then head back to the Furnace at your base, where you can use one Charcoal and two Iron Ore to create a single Iron Ingot. If your Charcoal supply is running low, be sure to fuel the Furnace with some Wood first.
