How to acquire pets in Grow a Garden 2
In Grow a Garden 2, you’ve got four ways to get pets: map spawns, Guild rewards, hatching eggs, and gifts sent by other players. Let’s look at each option quickly!
Map Spawns
Right after you begin playing Grow a Garden 2, you’ll notice that pets now show up directly on the map. They wander around, giving you the opportunity to purchase them until they’re swapped out for a fresh rotation. In other words, there’s almost always a pet you can pick up.
Right above each pet’s head, you’ll see a timer and a price. The timer tells you how long you have before that particular pet resets, while the price indicates what you’ll pay to get it. Putting both together helps you figure out if you can gather enough Sheckles in time to claim the pet. Just remember—once the timer runs out, the pet vanishes, so it’s smart to buy the rarer ones sooner rather than later.
Guild rewards
If you belong to a Guild, you can obtain pets by unlocking the weekly Guild rewards. These rewards come from building up points, which are based on your biggest single harvest, with one point earned per gram. The benefit here is that your Guild shares a combined score—so everyone contributes to it and reaps the rewards tied to the overall total.
When Grow a Garden 2 first released, the Guild reward pet was the Ice Serpent. Its variants—like Rainbow and Big—could also be earned, but only with an even higher Guild score.
Eggs
Eggs are back in Grow a Garden 2, though this time they don’t come from a dedicated egg stall. Instead, they’re one of the items you can receive through Guild rewards. Once your Guild reaches a sufficient number of points, you’ll get a selection of eggs to hatch in your garden. As in the past, eggs fall into different categories. Each category can produce a unique set of pets, and every pet within the egg pool has its own hatching chances. Generally, the less likely the hatch, the rarer the pet.
Gifts from Friends
If you have someone on your friends list in Grow a Garden 2, they might choose to send you a pet as a gift. Just watch out for scammers who could suggest using the gifting system to arrange pet trades—there’s no guarantee they’ll actually deliver what they claim.
How to Increase Pet Slots in Grow a Garden 2
Pet slots determine how many pets you can keep active in your garden at one time, and you start with three slots available. You can expand your capacity by tapping the pet icon—the bunny head on the left side of the screen. The downside? Each additional slot costs Sheckles.
Here’s the price for each extra pet slot in Grow a Garden 2:
- Fourth pet slot – 200,000 Sheckles
- Fifth pet slot – 1,000,000 Sheckles
Understanding Pet Mutations in Grow a Garden 2
Pet mutations are pets that look a little different from the normal versions in Grow a Garden 2. Don’t stress—you’ll be able to spot one if you have it. Along with their distinct appearance, pet mutations also come with an upgrade to their abilities. That’s why you’ll likely want them set as active pets in your slot lineup!
There are Big and Huge mutations, which—just like you’d expect—increase the pet’s size while also improving its abilities. (We also know that some pets can receive the Mega mutation through Guild rewards.) Meanwhile, the Rainbow mutation changes the pet’s color and boosts its capabilities.
We hope you have a great time building your pet collection in Grow a Garden 2! We also provide a full catalog of seeds, mutations, and multipliers, along with tips on how to join a Guild if you want extra gardening support.
