Alongside today’s release of the cover art, Rockstar has offered what looks like its strongest visual hint yet of Grand Theft Auto 6’s crime-filled urban sprawl: Vice City.
You can catch this new angle on the franchise’s take on Miami via the official GTA 6 website. The page has just been tweaked, and it now includes a scrollable, moving city panorama. As the skyline shifts beneath a pink-tinged sunset, the video also highlights plenty more—helicopters cutting across the sky, boats along the harbor, busy dock areas, and a ferris wheel lit up on the far shoreline.
In the last shot, there’s even a tennis court tucked into the lower-right corner, with two people standing beneath its floodlights. Are they getting ready for a quick rally, or is something darker about to unfold? (Since this is Vice City, it’s hard to rule anything out.)
This clip only offers a brief look at Vice City, but it also hints at how detailed and layered GTA 6’s world will be. The city comes across as vivid and active, glowing with billboards and towering buildings, and buzzing with life in every corner. I’m just hoping that a tennis mini-game—or a similar diversion—makes it in. After all, Rockstar has built a table tennis title before.
Following a handful of delays, GTA 6 is still set to release on November 19th for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders will kick off on June 25th, Rockstar announced today, alongside the cover art reveal mentioned above.
In the meantime, Rockstar Games is also dealing with a legal dispute involving the UK’s Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB). The union claimed in November that the company carried out “one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the gaming industry” after roughly 30 employees were let go. More recently, an employment tribunal refused Rockstar Games’ request to remove blacklisting allegations from this ongoing case. The hearing is scheduled for September 10th.
