Dead by Daylight unveils modding support, a visual overhaul, and a Scooby-Doo collaboration during 10th anniversary celebrations

Ten years in, Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight has settled into a familiar rhythm of fresh content, seasonal celebrations, and the occasional surprising turn. Now, with the asymmetrical horror game starting its 11th year, bigger changes are coming—most notably mod support and a refreshed visual presentation.

Details on these two major additions were shared during Dead by Daylight’s recent long-form 10th-anniversary livestream. Behaviour stated that official modding tools—covering player-made maps and modes—are expected to launch in 2027. On top of that, the studio plans to roll out shifting weather effects and a visual overhaul designed to breathe new life into Dead by Daylight’s currently dated look.

Behaviour also confirmed that Jason from Friday the 13th will be coming soon (a notable feat, given the franchise rights have been anything but stable over the years), along with a new original DLC chapter called The Life Road arriving later this month. Another horror staple is also set to join The Fog this November: Art the Clown from Terrifier. Beyond that, there’s word of a new map inspired by liminal spaces—suggesting a potential fit for a Backrooms partnership, if that pairing ever happens—though it’s not expected until December.

A handful of cosmetics-focused collaborations have been outlined as well, including a lineup for metalcore band Ice Nine Kills and the return of Iron Maiden. Players can also look forward to outfits inspired by Silent Hill, The Walking Dead, Diablo 4, and Scooby-Doo.

Not as flashy on the surface, August nonetheless brings Chorus of Sin, a new original (and celestial) killer named The Judgment, plus a new survivor, Aurora. There’s also an in-world collaboration tied to Supermassive Games’ Dead by Daylight spinoff The Casting of Frank Stone, scheduled for early 2027. Alongside all of these updates, Behaviour is promising more in-game happenings, including The Black Banquet (from mid-June through mid-July) and fresh seasonal rifts—challenge tracks with their own special rewards—throughout the year and into 2027.

That pretty much covers the major announcements, aside from additional updates tied to the live-action adaptation of the Dead by Daylight movie.
