Rockstar finally answered the biggest GTA 6 question: How much will it cost?

After wave after wave of rumors, leaks, postponements, and nonstop speculation about whether Grand Theft Auto 6 might become the first $100 video game, Rockstar Games has finally answered the question players have been asking for months—if not years: What will be the actual price of GTA 6?

Honestly, it probably won’t matter much, because millions of players will still pay whatever is required to get their hands on the sequel to what could be the biggest game to date.

On Wednesday, right before pre-orders for GTA 6 went live, Rockstar confirmed the retail pricing for GTA 6, along with pre-order details, special editions, and day-one bonuses ahead of the game’s scheduled release on Nov. 19. The standard version of GTA 6 will cost $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99 and bundles a range of exclusive cosmetic upgrades and in-game stores.

As stated on Rockstar’s official site, pre-orders begin at midnight on Thursday across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Early buyers will receive the Vintage Vice City pack, and anyone who places a pre-order for GTA 6 before Nov. 20 will also get the Vintage Vice City cosmetics bundle, which brings throwback looks for Jason and Lucia.

Rockstar’s pricing announcement also included a key note: The physical edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be delivered on a disc, but instead will include a download code inside the box. Players will be able to start pre-loading on Nov. 12, 2026.

Over the past year, the cost of GTA 6 has turned into one of the most closely watched conversations in the gaming world. Major publishers like Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony have raised prices throughout this console generation, and many standard AAA releases have increasingly settled around the $70 mark. Analysts and fans have suggested that GTA 6—arguably the most anticipated piece of entertainment of the decade—could be the release that pushes blockbuster game pricing even higher. That theory gained traction earlier this year after several industry analysts reported that publishers were paying close attention to Rockstar’s pricing strategy before making their own decisions.

Rockstar plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
