Blumhouse Games introduces a wide lineup of horror games
We return to Geoff on stage. Now it’s Blumhouse Games—the studio responsible for the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie—turning its attention to video games, and doing it “in a significant manner,” as we’re told. A trailer is shown.
Crisol Theater of Idols from Vermila Studios. Crave Seasons by Perfect Garbage. Sleep Awake from Eyes Out. Fear the Spotlight from Cozy Game Pals. The Simulation from Playmestudio. Sam Barlow is also involved in some capacity.
It certainly looks like there’s a growing slate of titles headed to audiences under this banner. It feels like either a dedicated platform or possibly an anthology of projects, though the exact setup is still a bit unclear.
And there’s Jason Blum, the company’s founder, stepping back up to share more. He’s got that unmistakably bright Hollywood grin. He also says they’re working on a sequel to Five Nights at Freddy’s.
“Horror, to my immense relief, is becoming increasingly fashionable… We wanted to bring our film approach over to gaming.” They’re offering independent creators a way to develop “the most twisted concepts imaginable” and turn them into games.
Louise Blain, now serving as creative lead for Blumhouse Games, tells us their brand will explore a range of horror sub-genres. You’ll find psychological horror, cosmic horror, and more. Honestly, the lineup looked surprisingly varied.
Good for her—she seemed to take a brief beat on stage.
