Moza announces new racing wheelbases, Lamborghini and Porsche wheel rims at Gamescom

Moza, a maker of racing peripherals, has unveiled a lineup of fresh products at Gamescom. The announcements include two high-end direct drive wheelbases, along with a pair of officially licensed wheel rims drawn from Lamborghini and Porsche’s racing electric vehicles. Visitors to the event can also go head-to-head with online and in-person racers Jimmy Broadbent and Jarno Opmeer using the new hardware.

I’ve previously pointed Eurogamer readers toward Moza’s solid mid-range R5 and R9 wheelbases, so I’m especially curious to see what their newest premium models— the R21 Ultra and R25 Ultra—bring to the table. Direct drive options from major peripheral manufacturers such as Logitech, Turtle Beach, and Thrustmaster typically top out around 10nm, but these bases are designed to deliver substantially more. Specifically, they use “next-gen flat-wire” motors rated for as much as 25nm of maximum torque, which is higher than the 21nm peak torque of the current R21 flagship model, last refreshed in 2023.

Still, torque numbers by themselves don’t automatically translate into a better sim racing experience. While higher peak torque can be useful at key moments, what you’ll feel over long stints is less about sustained peak output and more about how the wheel behaves during extended driving—especially for avoiding fatigue. The real highlight is the improved torque response in these updated versions, paired with a 21-bit magnetic encoder that’s said to deliver roughly 10 times the resolution of the R21. That should provide richer, more detailed feedback, which may help the overall feel of the wheel stay smoother. Both models also add RGB lighting along the edges of the unit, intended to reflect gear changes, ABS engagement, and flag information (for instance, a yellow flag in your incoming sector signals you should slow down). It’ll be interesting to put the new Ultra wheelbases through their paces and check whether the enhanced force feedback stands out compared with Moza’s current lineup.

The recreated wheel rims are just as compelling, fashioned from the Lamborghini Revuelto PHEV sports car and the Porsche Mission R EV racecar. The Revuelto wheel keeps things fairly straightforward, with a prominent D-shaped profile, heavy paddle shifters, and a range of buttons across the front. The Mission R wheel, meanwhile, leans more into track-focused spec, featuring a 5.4-inch 720p flexible OLED display, Formula-style faux-suede grips, plus an assortment of sturdy switches and encoders.

The Porsche rim was unveiled first, as an early project that went live almost a year ago, and the associated vehicle has been playable in iRacing, Rennsport, and Forza Horizon 5. The Lamborghini wheel came later, debuting back in May of last year; the car also appears on the cover of The Crew Motorfest and shows up in Forza Horizon 5. Availability in retail stores should be fairly close.

Moza hasn’t shared pricing yet, but I’ll revise this piece if the details come in later. I expect the R21 Ultra to start at $849 or more, while the R25 Ultra is likely to push into the four-figure bracket—meaning it will largely be aimed at well-funded sim racers. Likewise, the steering wheels should also carry a steep price tag: the Lamborghini wheel is likely to land in the upper triple digits, and the more feature-rich Porsche wheel should cost $1500 or above.

It will be fascinating to see how effectively Moza delivers on these flagship, premium components. The brand is typically known less for raw build quality or standout design and more for offering excellent value, strong software, and a broad ecosystem.

I’m looking forward to getting hands-on with the new releases when I’m at Gamescom next week. If you’re attending the Cologne-based event, you can also stop by the Moza stand in Hall 10.1 to try them for yourself.

Moza ambassador (and real-world Nurburgring 24 competitor) Jimmy Broadbent, along with F1 esports champion Jarno Opmeer, will be at the Moza booth on Saturday, the 23rd, for a live-streamed event. Attendees on-site will take part in a competition to post a time under one minute in an Assetto Corsa session, with prizes including signed merchandise and Moza products. The challenge will use the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 on Silverstone’s National layout, so anyone planning to compete should make time to practice ahead of it!
