Capcom’s doing a Spotlight showcase this week, offering a better look at Dragon’s Dogma 2’s new Dark Arisen DLC, Onimusha, and more

Capcom has announced a brand-new Spotlight presentation scheduled for later this week. The stream will run on Thursday, 25th June at 10pm UK time (11pm CEST / 2pm PDT).

As Capcom explains, the broadcast is set to last roughly half an hour and will recap the latest developments across several games we’ve already had a look at. The Capcom lineup includes:

  • Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen
  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Dark Arisen, meanwhile, is the highly anticipated DLC for Dragon’s Dogma 2 that many players have been waiting to see. Adding to the confusion, it also uses the same name as the DLC for the original Dragon’s Dogma from years back—something that may trip people up. That in turn raises the bar for what comes next, too: the original Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen DLC was a major overhaul, and I recall former Eurogamer writer Alex Donaldson noting that it took the experience from a 7 to a 9/10.

Looking ahead to what Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Dark Arisen has in store, Capcom says to expect “fresh narratives and exhilarating encounters” when it launches on 9th October. Players can look forward to a brand-new, snow-draped region and 12 additional dungeon challenges. There will also be new hairstyles—sounds like a great addition—and fresh tattoo options for your Arisen hero, as well as for NPC Pawns.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a different kind of proposition. It’s Capcom’s next major entry in the long-running series, and it plans to transport players to 1500s Japan when it releases. The title is set for 25th September, and if you’re keen to jump in earlier, a demo is already available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Our Dom previewed Onimusha: Way of the Sword last year, describing it as reminiscent of Nioh and Nioh 2—an assessment that’s certainly high praise.

Capcom has already enjoyed a standout year, with Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem both delivering impressive results for the studio. After years of anticipation and a run of delays, Pragmata finally launched in February—and it lived up to those expectations. The game received critical praise right after release, then surged to 1 million copies sold within just two days, before that total quickly rose to 2 million.

Resident Evil Requiem also arrived in February and quickly became the fastest-selling entry in the Resi franchise’s more than 30-year history. In April—just under two months after launch—Capcom marked the milestone of Requiem passing 7 million in sales.

At launch, we handed Resident Evil Requiem five stars, with our Matt calling it “legendary horror at an all-time high” in Eurogamer’s review. Dom, meanwhile, awarded Pragmata four stars, saying, “Emboldened by years of success, Capcom’s audacious 360-era shooter dares to challenge sci-fi shooter conventions in a proudly experimental risk,” as recorded in Eurogamer’s review of Pragmata.
