The Xbox Games Showcase is now underway, bringing you the newest details on Microsoft’s console efforts. Expect fresh announcements, updates on ongoing titles, and major moments like confirmed release windows. As is customary, the event wraps up with a dedicated segment for a single game. This time, all eyes are on Gears of War E-Day, so if it’s waiting on your “To Play” list, now’s the time to watch.

Gears of War E-Day
It looks like Gears of War is doing double duty at both ends of the showcase. The presentation kicked off with an energetic preview of Gears of War E-Day gameplay. The trailer delivers a strong look at the action—including blood splatter—during an assault on a supermarket. And yes, there’s a chainsaw in the mix!
E-Day is set 14 years after the events of the original game, as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago do everything they can to make it through Emergence Day. This is the moment when the Locust Horde surfaces from beneath the earth to invade Sera. Be sure to check out the E-Day Direct for more details.
Gears of War E-Day launches on October 6, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.
Fable
Even though Fable was unfortunately pushed back to February 23, 2027, it’s still exciting to see it featured in tonight’s showcase! (I’ll admit, I’m relieved it won’t cut into my time with Control Resonant.)
Simply named Fable, the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S (Day One on Game Pass), taking you back to the captivating lands of Albion. Choices and their consequences are set to be central again—so much so that both the world around you and your character will react to what you decide. Lean into generosity and compassion and you may build something beautiful, but if you choose a darker route, your deeds could return to haunt you. With a fairy-tale vibe this time, the story begins around the Heroes’ Guild, though your adventures are likely to take you far beyond it. (Maybe even underground.)
The new trailer blends lighthearted moments with genuinely worrying developments, told through the narration of Isabel Hero of Wraithmarsh, who clearly has more than a little history. We also caught sight of what could be a possible villain.
Halo: Campaign Evolved
The showcase opened with classic Xbox energy on full display! Guns, aliens, and explosions—what else do you need from Halo: Campaign Evolved? Set before Halo: Combat Evolved, this entry sends you on a mission to infiltrate a Covenant vessel. The trailer highlighted gameplay and previewed three brand-new missions as well.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled to release on July 28, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.
Resonance: A Plague Legacy
Step back into the unsettling world of A Plague Tale with this prequel to A Plague Tale: Requiem. In this game, you’ll play as Sophia, a young woman trying to uncover the secrets behind her own past. Things turn dangerous when she ends up on Minotaur Island, where threats seem to be around every corner.
Resonance: A Plague Legacy launches on August 27, 2026, on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.
Persona 4 Revival
We had a feeling this was on the way, but it’s still great to see it confirmed. The remake of Persona 4, titled Persona 4 Revival, has now been revealed. Explore the mystery around the Midnight Channel and reconnect with your Persona once more!
Persona 4 Revival is set to release on February 18, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.
State of Decay 3
Ready for some zombie-focused action? Then State of Decay 3 is right up your alley. Take control of a band of survivors, form a community, and take out as many zombies as you can. Just remember—these zombies are now just as interested in hunting you as you are in chasing them.
State of Decay 3 is planned for release in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.
Sea of Thieves – Custom Seas
Sea of Thieves is up next with a new update. Custom Seas is an upcoming free expansion that lets you build your own game modes—like Skeleton Snipe Hunt, or whatever ideas you can come up with. On top of that, you’ll also get new, more advanced camera controls to help you bring your creations to life.
Custom Seas arrives in Sea of Thieves on June 18, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.
Metro 2039
Next came our first real look at gameplay from Metro 2039, the latest chapter in the series based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s Metro novels. In Metro 2039, you take on the role of the Stranger—described as the first fully voiced protagonist in the franchise—returning to the Moscow Metro, which is still struggling to get back on its feet after the events of Metro Exodus. A brutal new power, the Novoreich, has taken hold, and it appears you may be the only one able to bring it down.
Metro 2039 is expected to launch in February 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Bad Magpie
If you liked Untitled Goose Game, you’ll likely enjoy Bad Magpie too. As the trailer shows, this magpie wastes no time when it comes to causing trouble—particularly when that mischief involves fire.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember
If you liked Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, you may want to add Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember to your list of upcoming games. This fantasy RPG lets you tap into the phoenix’s power, setting the stage for some truly explosive moments. (I wonder whether it has any connection to Bad Magpie…)

Join Us
Have you ever dreamed of running your own cult? While it might sound like a profitable idea, it doesn’t exactly hold up under an ethical lens. The good news is that Join Us lets you live out this fantasy without any real-world consequences. Whether you decide to play solo or team up with three friends, Join Us will get you ready for the apocalypse—and you might even end up experiencing it firsthand.
Join Us launches in March 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.
Senua
Senua is the next entry in the Hellblade series, even if “Hellblade” isn’t included in the name. This change underlines that Senua is a complete action-adventure experience. Expect more flexibility in combat—using the environment to your advantage—along with a wider world to explore and more puzzle challenges.
Senua will launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It will also be available on Game Pass as one of the Xbox Play Anywhere titles. You already know the pattern—Game Pass, Day One.
Fallout 76 Infestations
After that, Fallout 76 came next, delivered through a musical performance. Starting June 7th and running through June 15th, Fallout 76 will offer daily rewards, plus a free trial of Fallout 1st from June 8th to June 15th. (If you’re curious, we did catch a brief look at the gameplay for Infestations right at the end.) Fallout 76 Infestations is now out on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4—and yes, it’s available via Game Pass as well.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations
Then we got a peek at some grimdark sci-fi shooter action, along with a preview of the Revelations DLC—a full campaign expansion—for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Are you ready to hack through even more demons with a blade? Prepared to blast off a few heads? If that’s your kind of fun, Revelations is for you. The trailer also shared a bit about the DLC’s story, though it mostly leaned into spectacular, over-the-top violence.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations releases on July 7th, 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour
The last time we heard anything about this entry in the Crazy Taxi lineup was at The Game Awards 2023, when Sega said it was working on it. (That came alongside a handful of other titles that had been quiet for a while—like Virtua Fighter Crossroads, which we saw during this year’s Summer Game Fest.)
Now, we finally have a proper first look at Crazy Taxi: World Tour. It’s aiming to keep the same kind of chaos as the earlier games, and your passengers definitely won’t be thrilled by the wild stunts you pull off.

Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection
To mark Xbox’s 25th anniversary, a special Xbox Series X model—called the Xbox Series X25—will be released in November 2026. The unit features a green transparent case, so you can see the internals whenever you feel like it. A matching controller will be included as well.
Age of Empires IV: Raiders of the North expansion
The Vikings and the Scots have arrived! Want to fight alongside these tough factions? Then you’ll need the Raiders of the North expansion for Age of Empires IV.
Age of Empires IV: Raiders of the North is planned to launch in Autumn 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Minecraft Dungeons II
If you’re into Minecraft, you might want to consider adding Minecraft Dungeons II to your “Must Play” list. This game brings you back to dungeon crawling inside the Minecraft universe—taking on enemies, tackling puzzles, and taking down tough bosses along the way.
Minecraft Dungeons II launches on September 29th, 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. It will also be available as another Day One Game Pass title.
Magicians: The Devil’s Deal
Next up was the world premiere of Magicians: The Devil’s Deal. In this game, you’ll take on the role of Jacob, a man who’s sacrificed by a cabal of magicians in return for power. Put your magical skills to work to (hopefully) break free of hell and get your revenge.
Magicians: The Devil’s Deal will be available in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will also come to Game Pass from Day One.
Valor Mortis
Valor Mortis is an upcoming first-person soulslike game from the creators of Ghostrunner. Step into the boots of a former soldier in Napoleon’s army and use your supernatural abilities to fight the monsters that are waging war against humanity. (And in the end, confront the

Valor Mortis launches on September 24th for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will also be included on Game Pass from Day One.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Return of the Thieves Guild
Next up was Bethesda’s spotlight again, as we dug into what’s coming for The Elder Scrolls Online. The featured event is a signature moment for the franchise: the Thieves Guild. If you’re ready to jump into some fantastical heists, this guild is actively looking for fresh recruits. You might even find yourself heading out across the seas in search of valuable treasure!

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – World Update 22
After that, the Xbox Games Showcase took to the skies with a look at the upcoming update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Focused on the United States, the update will bring a wide selection of national parks and monuments to the experience. Highlights include the Great Smoky Mountains, Rocky Mountains, Bryce Canyon, and, naturally, the Grand Canyon.
World Update 22: National Parks arrives in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on 4th July 2026 (which feels appropriately timed) for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The National Championship Air Races are scheduled to launch in Autumn 2026. It will also be available on Game Pass from Day One.
Where Winds Meet – Hidden Mountain Expansion
Keeping the momentum going with updates for established games, we then headed into Where Winds Meet to take a closer look at the Hidden Mountain expansion. This addition brings a brand-new map, plus fresh opponents and more content that expands as you continue your martial arts journey.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
This year is a double celebration for Castlevania: it marks the franchise’s 40th anniversary, and it also introduces the latest entry—Belmont’s Curse. Taking place after Dracula’s Curse, this 2D action-adventure follows Rose Belmont as she sets out to fight back against vampiric swarms. The trailer also offered sneak peeks at several of the bosses you’ll face along the way.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches on 15th October 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Vivarium
This title feels custom-built for what I like. Hand-drawn anime-inspired visuals? Absolutely. A life-simulation adventure? Right on target. A non-linear story? You got it. Vivarium invites you to sink into a captivating world starring Jenny, even if it seems like even more is coming to light during these long summer days.
Vivarium is scheduled to release in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. And yes—if you’re curious, it will be available on Game Pass on Day One.
Persona 6
Persona fans, celebrate—Persona 6 has officially been announced! (And you might have assumed we’d only see one Persona game during this showcase.) It’s been ten years since Persona 5, and there have been plenty of rumors about this upcoming installment, but it’s still great to finally have confirmed details. Persona 6 again pairs a supernatural adventure with everyday life, though the trailer suggests a darker, horror-leaning mood this time.
Persona 6 will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. As with before, it will also be on Game Pass from Day One.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond
The cherished purple dragon is ready to make a comeback with his first brand-new adventure since 2008! (While Spyro Reignited Trilogy released in 2018, it didn’t really count as a fresh new game.) Spyro: A Realm Beyond brings the character back to the skies again, and the trailer highlights a playful flight along with hints about the enemies he’ll run into.

Clockwork Revolution
The Xbox Games Showcase also swung back around to Clockwork Revolution, revealing a range of new characters ready to carry out a heist. The most reliable way to take what you want, it seems, is to tamper with the timeline—and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing in Clockwork Revolution. Along with taking on mechanical creatures, you may even befriend a clockwork dog, which I spotted in the trailer.
Clockwork Revolution is expected to launch in 2027 as an Xbox console exclusive. It will be available on Game Pass from Day One.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
2026 wouldn’t feel complete without another Call of Duty release, and during this Showcase we got a preview of Modern Warfare 4. The trailer’s main focus was the game’s extraction shooter mode—DMZ. With a new Korean map called Jajin, DMZ will include its own storyline, a player bounty system, dynamic weather, and a dedicated operational base for each player. Inside, you’ll find handy facilities like a gunsmith and a shooting range.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is available starting 23rd October 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Gears of War E-Day Direct
Gears of War E-Day kicked off and wrapped up the showcase. This focused Direct offered a deeper look at the upcoming Gears title and shared several new gameplay moments.
